About the Devil, there's no really big spoilers, but still. Be aware!
I wonder, what kind of story japan are going to show us? Something really strange is going in all those promo clips we saw. Like moment when Ohno hits Toma's picture with a knife. That was really, really out of character.

One of most strong sides of original dorama was, that Devil there was kind. Off course he made this big plan that caused death of those... 4 people? But it was not like he was obsessed with idea of 'kill', he was more like... wanting to put detective in the pain that he felt himself. And also first card? Girl said, that this card says that it's time to pay for that you have done. But cost may be not that scary or big, if you'll understand your mistakes. He wasnt obsessed with idea of 'kill' at all, he wanted to show detective how wrong he was. Also he had this crazy guy who did all the work, so, mostly, Devil was aside of whole killing duties, for him it was like 'this person is gone now', 'this person is gone now too'. In him you kan see only cold logic, and pain, and a little, just a little - anger.

Japanese Devil, in other hand, seems truly obsessed with 'kill' idea. While Korean Devil was sitting alone in his room in the dark, raining lonely tears on his mother's music box, Japanese Devil seems to busing himself with killing detective's pictures :\ He even have whole room for obsessed killer needs. That's kind of sad that they turned this story this way. Because while I was watching korean dorama it was really comfusing how Devil could have been this much kind, while manipulating people for his devil plan. Like... he truly was kind. And he had people he loved, like his fake sister and fake brother with his wife, and that girl, and that girl's mother. In the end I had a strange feeling like he loved detective as well (this strange through hit me in the scene when detective was drunk and he was walking away and then he looked back at Devil with this drunk smirk D: I dont know why). And he had people who loved him back, even knowing that he was a devil.  That's why this story hurt so much.

idk, maybe they are going to make Devil to soften while story's going. I just hope they wont broke or ignore strong points of this story. I havent even saw first episode to make any opinions about it, so well. Just wanted to talk about it.

And. Everyone who saw korean dorama, what you'll say if I'll say that I think that Nino will shown up in last episode as well? :X This idea dont leaves me. That's... scary.

P.S. TFPII was hillarious. Will make capsfilled post later. Maybe with Shukudai-kun too, because Shukudai-kun was awesome as well. yup.

I used to worry about that too but since Ohno said so himself that "The devil may look scary at first but it is a story about human and what it is to be human" in ousama no brunch promo, i shall put my faith in him to deliver his very best the heartbreaking, kind, complicated character that is the lawyer. Its now up to the Maou team to feed him with equally great storyline like the original. They have the tough task to scale down the perfect 20 episode story to 11 episodes only so I understand the need to make the story a bit linear for the first couple of episodes. They will have a tough time to built a strong base for every character... this includes the detective & librarian too which I saw some weaknesses just from the cms.
By default I will love the dorama no matter what beacuse its Ohno, Toma & arashi singing but not more than I love Mawang. I've already made up my mind that I'm satisfied with Mawang and only a miracle would make me love the remake.. Mawang is special indeed. I'm at peace with not having the heart to love Maou more and shall enjoy the show as it is.

TO THOSE WHO DON'T WANT SPOILER. PLEASE DO NOT READ FURTHER

what you'll say if I'll say that I think that Nino will shown up in last episode as well?

Yup, already posted about that thought right after they announced Nino going to be in it. yup. and he was giving hints too like scrapping the poster and revealing it was him all along. that lil' devil is the original devil afterall eh. But will Ohchan ride a car to the original crime scene?

Oh, I think for me as well, Maou wont beat Mawang, even with tonns of efforts. It's preatty impossible. All the actors there in perfect place (Tae Woong (/_ _)/ No one can portray detective better than Tae Woong. He sung this sad song, did you know that? This sad solo song. I am so in WOW about it), soundtrack is awesome, quality is wonderful, storyline goes smoothly and as it should be. Maou cant beat original at all. But I'll enjoy it too :3 Very very very much :3

And this thing about Nino... it hit me right after I heard that he'll be son of lawyer :X AGHHHH. That's scary (=__=) It'll be the first time for Arashi members to act such kind of roles together :X I dont know if I want it to be true or not. Mostly.... I want X_X

I haven't seen the Korean Maou, but now I think I will. From your explanation, it sounds pretty good, and maybe deeper than the Japanese Maou will be?

Like [info]aishoni, I'm hoping that Ohno's Maou will become more than just the scary killer of the previews, more human. No matter how good Ohno looks as a scary evil killer, it would be nice if his angel side is not truly an act.

Also, though I'm oblivious about the Korean version, what you said reminded me of this:

"Nino: well, I will only be appearing in the first episode...but after that, continuing onto second episode, third episode... as the stories unfold, I am sort of expecting there is going to be development of a story...and when we realise "I was actually Maou" ! and at the end, if yo scratch the poster's ohno san's bit, it reveals Ninomiya Kazunari...that kind of development is highly anticipated by me...LOL well, I am thinking of a way to somehow become a regular cast...well, it is a very serious drama but the relationship of the characters are so well thought of...so...I think it would be nice if people could enjoy such element of this drama...hey, I said such a clever thing here LOL."

Haha, no matter how scary, I hope Nino gets to appear again!

oh you should watch Mawang after Maou even if the storyline is pretty much the same. It is one of the most thought provoking, heartwrenching drama I've ever watched and I RAREly watch Korean dramas. Deep indeed and even that would be an understatement.
The way they've been promoting Maou showed how much they respect the original so I know the remake is good hands.

I'm definitely going to watch Mawang then. After Maou. Thank you for helping me decide. ^^

Really, I don't think I've ever watched a complete Korean drama, but this sounds really provoking and interesting. It'll be wonderful if the Japanese version is just as interesting, if not in the exact same way.

The good thing about the k-drama is that there is so much tension there. I like the idea that the lawyer's purpose was to make the detective suffer as much as possible. But he didn't intend to hurt others. You also got to see many sides of every character.

I hope they don't totally ruin the original one though I do know there will be changes, maybe a lot of them.

Nino in the last one too? Hmm.. I hope not. Though it really depends on what happens to him in the first episode.

About the opening song.. I so hoped it would be an instrumental or j-rock song, not Arashi's song..
